HI! A relative of mine once said that only skinbyrds were allowed to have chelsea haircuts, and that if I were to get one it would lead to either unpleasant conversation... Or a boot party. She explained that unless I was into that subculture, I would be ostracized or even worse victimized. Personally, I think she was overreacting... It's just hair right? Or is there a deeper meaning behind the chelsea? I am starting to really like ska, more so than before, I was already into Oi, but now what?

In a another time, your relative would have been right. But nowadays, subcultures are a lot less exclusive. The chelsea is typically accepted in punk, riot, skyn, and ska crowds. I can’t guarantee that you won’t get some static for it every once in a while, but like anything else if you’re confident in it you probably won’t run into much of a problem.
Personally I think the reaction you’ll get depends on your location and most importantly the crowd you’re with. If you want to get a chelsea, get one. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
